Our Story

Hopewell Is A Real Place...

     Brick Farm Butcher is a real shop located on the campus of Brick Farm Tavern, which itself is physically connected to Double Brook Farm, thus working contiguously with a farm and a kitchen of a fine dining restaurant in Hopewell, New Jersey.  We the farmers, do the farming. We the chefs do the cooking, we the butchers... you get the idea. Traditional, sustainable methods are our way of life, not catch phrases of the day. We employ our hands to take care of picturesque, fertile pastures and fields in Hopewell. We raise heritage breeds of sheep, goats, pigs, turkeys and chickens on our pasture.  We grow vegetables and fruits following good practices.  Most of our harvest is ends up on the menus of our Brick Farm Tavern, one of the nation's truest pasture to table restaurants, also in Hopewell, N.J.

     As seasons and availability allow, we sometimes have the ability to offer some of our goods at our physical shop and here, online.  We are not a large coop "representing" farmers.  Our products are results of small-scale hands-on farming.  

     Double Brook Farm is a pioneer of pasture-raised and humanely raised proteins in the United States. Additionally our active pasture grazing management achieves on of the highest carbon sequestration results in the country.  We pride ourselves in being a place where our animals graze freely. Our farm is currently one of only two in the U.S. with a USDA-inspected slaughterhouse facility on the farm.  As a result, our animals never travel in dark, stressful conditions to far, unknown places.  We believe the respect and humane approach to animal farming should be present at all stages of the process.  From a consumer's standpoint, such methods also lead to unmatched quality and taste.
